Living in a small town may not be for everyone.  For folks who have grown up living in the city or on the coast, moving to a small town can cause a little culture shock.  However, once you’ve settled in and really begin to explore and grow with your community you will find that small town living may just be the best living!!  Let’s explore a little more about this small town you may be considering moving to.

Ramona is an unincorporated town on the outskirts of San Diego County.  Although Ramona has grown significantly over the last few years it continues to keep true to its small town roots, with many community events that promote Ramona’s history and traditions.  From The American Graffiti Cruise Nights every Thursday in the Spring and Summer to the Ramona Jr Fair which brings out the local 4H’rs and FFH kids and the livestock that they raise for the fair.  Ramona is also famous for their Rodeo which brings cowboys from all over the country to ride their horses and wrestle cattle.  It is truly the epitome of a small country town.

If you are looking for a place that will welcome you and your family with open arms you have found the right place.  Speaking of families, Ramona is the PERFECT place to raise a family.

Schools

The community has 6 elementary schools, two middle schools, and three high schools.  Two of the elementary schools are in the San Diego Country Estates area of town, while the other 4 elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools are in town.

Wineries

Over the past few years Ramona has seen the emergence of many small wineries and tasting rooms.  Although Ramona has a history of vineyards and families in the wine business, it has really been over the past few years that Ramona has seen this industry take a larger and more prominent place in town.  With over 26 independent vineyards we are seeing a steady growth in this specialty business.  With many of the wineries/tasting rooms in beautiful picturesque locations all around Ramona, the draw to visit these businesses has greatly increased.  On top of this their wines are simply wonderful!

In addition to the wonderful Wineries Ramona also has several farm stands that offer a wide range of fruits, veggies, homemade and home grown items for the community.  Each one is a little different but all of them are awesome!

One of the other great things about Ramona is that it really is pretty close to everything.  It is about a 40-minute drive to the beaches, 45-minute drive to Down Town San Diego or the airport, and an hour and a half to Disneyland.  So you really get the best of both worlds living here.  You get the quiet small town out of the city, and yet you are still close enough to commute to work and anywhere you want to go in a short amount of time.

I can tell you that making the move to Ramona may be the best decision you ever make!
