If you are a baseball fan and want to watch some great games head over to the Pony baseball fields for the Memorial Day Ramona Baseball Invitational. This tournament features teams not only from Ramona but all over San Diego. Stop by and root on your Ramona blue teams! Games run through Monday!
Start your Saturday off with a trip to the Ramona Certified Farmers Market. There are so many vendors that really have great items for sale. From Produce to gourmet olive oil, to succulents. There really is a little something for everyone at the Farmers Market. Stop by the Kmart parking lot from 9am to 1pm and check it out!
This weekend also sounds like a great time to stop by some of our local farm stands. Grebar will be open this weekend and have you seen all of the amazing fruit that they have right now? Strawberries, blueberries, boysenberries, peaches and more. You will not be disappointed by stopping over there! Page’s Organics is another farm stand that I love. I’ve always tried to keep it my little secret so I could get my pick of the best produce but hey, sharing is caring right! Plus, I think it’s very important that we as a community support our local farmers! Learn a little more about how Page’s Organics also known as Killer Tomato got started.
This Saturday evening there will be a very special event going on. Heart and Hooves Therapy is hosting their Quarter Auction. The Quarter Auction starts at 5pm and goes until 8pm. This is a great fundraiser that helps Heart and Hooves Therapy with their expenses through the year. Part raffle, part auction, and a whole lot of fun!! Stop by the Ramona Senior Center and bring a couple rolls of quarters with you and bid on some really great items! Ramona Town Radio will be broadcasting live from this great event.
Enjoy a leisurely Sunday and then stop over at the classic car show that runs every Sunday from 4pm to 6pm at the Albertsons parking lot.
Monday, the last day of our holiday weekend. I would be remiss if I did not mention how truly grateful I am as we all should be to our men and women who have fought for our freedoms. Memorial Day is a day that we honor the men and women who have died while serving in the US Military. It is a day of remembrance and a day of saying thanks to those who have given their lives so that you can enjoy this day. The Ramona Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3783 will honor our brave soldiers with three separate events that all are welcome to join. The first will be held at the Nuevo Memory Gardens at 10am. While you are there you will see flags on all of the headstones/graves of all of the Veterans that are buried there. This is a somber event that honors our veterans and their families.
The next event will take place on the corner of 9th and G street. There will be a short ceremony at the WWII monument that stands behind the stands of the ball field on the corner. Immediately following that ceremony, the last ceremony will be held at the Vietnam Memorial that stands in front of Schwaesdall Winery (across from Daniels West)
Once the ceremonies have been completed the VFW invites everyone to their Memorial Day BBQ and Picnic. This will begin at 1pm at the Bobby Watt Memorial Park. If you plan on attending the BBQ please bring a side dish to share!
And that is it for our weekend. I hope that you have a chance to enjoy one or more of the great events that are happening around town this weekend. Enjoy yourself, spend some time with people you love and be safe! I would like to end by asking for a favor from you, if you have an American Flag please fly it proudly this weekend. Let’s be the most patriotic town in America!
Thanks Friends! Remember what makes Ramona different.... people! That means you! Have a great weekend!
